Yim Finishes Sixth at Clay Court Event
Sixth-seeded Robert Yim of Glendale was beaten, 6-0, 6-1, by top-seeded Brian Baker of Nashville, the No. 4-ranked junior player in the nation, in the fifth-place match Sunday at the United States Tennis Assn. Super National Boys’ 18 Clay Court Championships in Louisville, Ky.
* The seventh-seeded team of Jessica Nguyen of Chatsworth and Alli Krasnopolsky of Los Angeles fell, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, to fourth-seeded Sophie Grabinski of Carmel, Ind. and Monica Milewski of Park Ridge, Ill. in quarterfinals Sunday at the Super National Girls’ 14 Clay Court Championships in Plantation, Fla.
* The third-seeded team of Angela Haynes of Compton and Ahsha Rolle of Miami Shores, Fla., fell to fifth-seeded Kristina Stastney of St. Louis, Mo., and Eva Wang of Haverford, Penn., 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the doubles third-place playoff at the USTA Super National Girls’ 18 Clay Court Championships Sunday in Memphis, Tenn.
* Third-seeded Dan Bohannon of Orange and Peter Bronson of Scottsdale, Ariz., defeated the top team of Tom Leonard of South Pasadena and Jerry Van Linge of Irvine, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, to win the doubles title in the USTA National Men’s 50 Hardcourt Championships Saturday at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
