Burns Wins Feature Race

Todd Burns of Riverside held off David Hessing of Canyon Country to take the 50-lap Southern California Auto Club Late Model main event before 5,220 at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night.

Burns, whose last victory came in April, defeated Hessing by .553 seconds. Brian Kelly finished third, with Mike Price and series points leader Deryk Ward rounding out the top five.

In earlier races, Chris Hines took the 45-lap Speed Truck main event, and Jeff Green of Long Beach held off Andrew Phipps to win a 30-lap Super Stock main event plagued by caution periods. Dean Kuhn went wire to wire to win the 30-lap Grand American Modified race, his eighth victory of the season.
