Driver Arrested in Crash That Killed Son
A Lancaster man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after an accident that killed his 18-year-old son and injured three other men, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant said Sunday.
Marcel Clark, 38, was being held on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving in connection with the death Saturday night of Marcel Edward Clark, Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Jones said.
Driving on Palmdale Boulevard, Clark lost control of a Volkswagen Beetle and swerved into oncoming traffic, Jones said. A Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck the VW. Two people in the Monte Carlo suffered broken bones and a second passenger in Clark’s car suffered internal injuries.
Clark suffered minor injuries. He had been drinking alcohol prior to the collision, investigators said, and a sample of his blood was taken to check his blood-alcohol level.
