A 16-year-old boy was killed and another teenager wounded Tuesday in a shootout that ended in a car crash, authorities said.
The 16-year-old and two friends, one of them a 13-year-old girl, were in a car near Blanche Avenue and Dale Street about 5:30 p.m. when they argued with two teenage boys on the street, said Garden Grove Police Capt. Dave Abrecht. One of the pedestrians is believed to have fired at least two shots, hitting the 16-year-old driver and the male passenger. The car struck a tree and overturned.
The driver was declared dead at the scene. The other boy is in stable condition at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange. Police detained the girl.
