Compton Dominguez 69, Inglewood 56--The NBA is in his future but for now Tyson Chandler is enjoying playing his final year in high school and why not?

For now no one can stop him.

“I’m not too anxious to move to the next level. I’m going to miss these days,” said Chandler who had 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The 7-foot-1 center had no trouble leading the top-seeded Dons (27-2) to their seventh consecutive Division IIAA title.

“He’s a potential NBA lottery pick, its tough for high school kids to defend against him,” said Inglewood Coach Patrick Roy.

Not that the Sentinels didn’t try but it didn’t help that 6-foot-9 centers Doug Thomas and D’Angelo Thomas, Inglewood’s only true big men played in foul trouble in the third and fouled out in the fourth quarter.

The Sentinels trailed by 15 in the first half and were able to mount a late third quarter comeback to get within 46-41 thanks to seven points from Terrel Stoval, who finished with 24.

Santa Monica Crossroads 60, Santa Monica St. Monica 39--The top-seeded Roadrunners used a 15-7 run with 4:58 left to win their second consecutive IV-A title.

Isaiah Fox scored 20 points and had 19 rebounds to lead Crossroads (22-5).

Marcus Shelby scored 13 points for the third-seeded Mariners (21-8).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Lynwood 59, Anaheim Esperanza 39--The Knights’ victory in the I-AAA final gave them their first section title since 1994.

Sade Gatewood led Lynwood with 18 points.

while

San Clemente 54, Irvine 49--Megan Blackshire scored eight points in the fourth quarter and lifted the top-seeded Tritons to the I-AA title.

San Clemente (28-3) won its first section title in three tries--all coming in the last four years.

Lindsey Pluimer scored 22 points for San Clemente.

Los Angeles Pilgrim 71, Palos Verdes Estates Rolling Hills 60--In the V-A final, Pilgrim (20-6) won its third consecutive section title, and fifth in six years, on the strength of a 22-14 third quarter.

Amber Cunningham had 28 points and 10 rebounds, and Danielle Carter scored 19 points for Pilgrim.

Lauren Stayton had 24 points and Charmaine Jones scored 20 for Rolling Hills (21-4).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Long Beach Millikan 1, Dana Hills 0--Jose Barragan stopped Forrest Smith on two breakaways in the final minutes of the second half as the the Rams upset top-seeded Dana Hills to win the Southern Section Division I championship at La Mirada High.

Millikan scored late in the first half when forward Alejandro Torres crossed the ball through two Dana Hills defenders and onto the feet of Sigifredo Orozsco, who easily beat goalkeeper Lance Friesz from 10 yards out.

Santa Ana Mater Dei 2, La Puente Nogales 0--The Monarchs won their fourth Southern Section Division II title in eight years at La Habra High.

Juan Guerrero scored in the third minute when he knocked in a loose ball off a corner kick and Matt Fennell scored on a header in the 36th minute.

Brea Olinda 0, Santa Barbara 0--The Dons and Wildcats played a scoreless tie in the Division III title game at La Mirada High.

Santa Barbara (27-1-4) had more chances, but Brea Olinda goalkeeper Mike Maynard had six saves.
