A shootout in a parking lot outside a Westminster cafe Tuesday afternoon left a teenager dead and another man wounded, police said.

The shooting occurred about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday outside Cafe Nhung, in a strip mall at the corner of Bolsa Avenue and Magnolia Street, Westminster Police Lt. Mike Schliskey said.

Both victims left the scene and were found by police in nearby housing complexes, he said.

Andy Hung Do, 17, of Santa Ana was rushed to Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, where he died from a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Do had been driven by an acquaintance to the 9700 block of Bolsa Avenue, where he was found in the back seat of a car, Det. Richard Mize said.

The second victim, Lan Pham, 25, of Huntington Beach, was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to his lower body. He was listed in good condition, Mize said. Police said they found him collapsed in an apartment complex near the shooting scene.

“He just ran to somebody’s apartment and collapsed,” Schliskey said.

Mize said the shooting erupted during a fight involving six to 10 people. When gunshots rang out, everyone scattered, leaving behind some tools in the parking lot, police said.

Police said they believe the shooting was gang-related and are investigating whether it was in retaliation for earlier incidents.

“We had a couple of incidents over the weekend, and whether this is retaliation for that, we’re not sure,” Schliskey said.
