Birmingham’s Keyes Turns on the Power

Cornice Keyes is not your typical No. 9 batter.

The senior right fielder is batting .296 and leads Birmingham (9-3-1) with three home runs and 22 RBIs. She has two grand slams.

Coach Jim Rose said he has no intention of moving Keyes up in the lineup.

“I like her power back there,” Rose said. “And she probably leads the state among girls batting ninth.”
