Share

Russamee Gulyanamitta, the community college women’s state champion in 2000 while playing at Cypress and runner-up in the 2000 U.S. Women’s Public Links, has relinquished her amateur status and will compete as a professional.

Gulyanamitta, 24, a native of Thailand and resident of Huntington Beach, declared her professional status before the SBC Futures Tour Barona Creek Women’s Classic last week in Lakeside. She shot 74-72-74--220 and tied for 14th. Her first professional paycheck was $1,003.

She finished 18th two weeks ago in the season-opening Futures Tour event while playing as an amateur. The top three finishers on the final Futures Tour season money list receive a full exemption for the 2002 LPGA Tour. With her earning last week, Gulyanamitta is currently No. 30 on the money list.
