Diamondbacks Play at Lancaster on Monday

The Lancaster JetHawks will play major league affiliate Arizona Diamondbacks at The Hangar at 3 p.m. Monday.

Ticket-holders for the exhibition game can enter beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The JetHawks will take batting practice from noon to 1 p.m. The Diamondbacks will take batting practice and infield from 1-2:15 p.m.

The JetHawks open the California League season Thursday with the start of a four-game series against the San Jose Giants.

TENNIS

* Brad Gilbert, a former professional who played at Pepperdine and serves as coach of Andre Agassi, will be inducted into the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn. Men’s Hall of Fame during the NCAA Division I Championships at Georgia in May.

Gilbert, an NCAA singles finalist for the Waves in 1982, was twice ranked among the top 10 on the ATP tour.

* Bob Bryan, a Rio Mesa High graduate, will be among several young players on the ATP Tour competing in the inaugural $25,000 U.S. Tennis Assn. Challenger tournament Monday through April 8 at Calabasas Tennis and Swim Club.

Bryan, 22, of Camarillo, will be joined in the 32-player field by Andy Roddick, 18, of Boca Raton, Fla., who upset Pete Sampras in the third round of the Ericcson Open in Florida this week, and Taylor Dent, 19, of Newport Beach, who lost to Agassi in the second round of the Ericcson Open.

Bryan has won two professional singles titles and teamed with twin Mike Bryan to capture his first doubles title in February.
