In another Pacific Coast League game:

Laguna Beach 3, Northwood 2--John Verdugo (1-3) struck out 10 and Jimmy Bobst scored the winning run on a fifth-inning fielder’s choice for the Artists (5-6, 2-3). Andrew Morrison gave up six hits for Northwood (3-10, 1-4).

In the Century League:

Foothill 6, Villa Park 2--Reid Horton (4-1) struck out six and Brent Halstead’s fourth-inning double drove in the winning run. Bob Hamer had a two-run double for the Knights (8-4, 3-2).

Ricky Sims hit his third homer for Villa Park (7-5, 3-2).

In the Empire League:

Katella 7, No. 4 El Dorado 5 (9)--Augie Valdez and David Alcantar homered in the ninth for Katella (8-4, 3-2). El Dorado is 10-2, 4-1.

In the Freeway League:

No. 7 Sonora 2, Fullerton 1--Eric Lozano tripled home Brett Smith with the winning run in the sixth for the Raiders (11-1, 5-0). Jimmy Waninger struck out eight and gave up two unearned runs for Fullerton (4-5, 3-2).

In the Garden Grove League:

No. 2 La Quinta 7, Garden Grove 2--Ian Kennedy struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter as the Aztecs (12-1, 3-1) avenged a loss to the Argonauts two days earlier.

Santiago 6, Pacifica 0--Brian Pilkington pitched a two-hitter, struck out nine, and hit a two-run homer for the Cavaliers (5-3, 2-2).

In the Golden West League:

Tustin 4, Westminster 2--Carlos DeLaRiva singled home Kenny Alvarado in the fifth inning with the eventual winning run. Michael Cooper pitched a complete game for visiting Tustin (4-6-1, 3-0-1).

In the Orange League:

Magnolia 5, Savanna 4--Richie Toscano scored the winning run on Kenny Loza’s single in the bottom of the seventh inning. Matt McConnaughy pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and allowed one earned run. Magnolia is 1-9, 1-5.

In the Sea View League:

Aliso Niguel 10, Laguna Hills 8--Reliever Todd Difley (3-0) struck out six in 3 2/3 innings and Sean Kock and Jeremy Burchett had two hits and two RBIs each for the host Wolverines (8-3, 4-2).

Chris Turner hit a grand slam for Laguna Hills (5-6, 3-3).

Woodbridge 5, Newport Harbor 0--Bryan Beck pitched a four-hitter for Woodbridge (5-6, 2-4), and Bryan Martinez had two RBIs.

In the South Coast League:

No. 9 Mission Viejo 6, San Clemente 2--Junior Dain Hanson pitched 4 1/3 innings to earn the victory, and also homered, doubled and walked for host Mission Viejo (7-3-1, 3-1-1), which scored three runs in the sixth to break the game open.

No. 6 Trabuco Hills 1, No. 10 Capistrano Valley 0--Trabuco Hills senior Kyle Allen (4-1) gave up two hits and struck out six in his second complete game this season.

The Mustangs (9-3, 3-2) scored on Mike Thompson’s two-out RBI single.

Frank McLaughlin pitched a four-hitter for Capistrano Valley (7-4, 2-3).
