* Record vs. Bobcats (2000)--1-0.
* Update--Interim Coach Robert Lyles, who replaced Stan Brock on Saturday, will try to get the Avengers in the win column. Last week Los Angeles scored the fewest points in its brief history in losing to Arizona, 49-21. But tonight’s game is not only an audition for Lyles, who was promoted from defensive coordinator, but players as well. The team has an open date next week and Lyles said he would be evaluating the roster. “I don’t think there’s any one, particular big thing we have to do,” said Lyles, whose last head coaching position was at Treadwell High in Memphis, Tenn. The Avengers welcome back Chris Jackson, their leading receiver last year who had signed with the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad in the off-season. Lyles said he expected to hold out quarterback Todd Marinovich (neck, ankle) one more week and go with Erik Wilhelm. Last week the Bobcats lost their home opener to Nashville, 46-26.
