TO OUR READERS

In today’s Los Angeles Times, we are introducing expanded content and a clearer organization in two sections of the newspaper: main news (Section A) and regional news (Section B). These changes are aimed at strengthening the newspaper’s journalistic core, which is in-depth coverage of the region, the nation and the world.

Inside the main news section, readers will find an average of two additional pages of world and national news each day. World and national coverage are presented in that order, like chapters in a book.

All editions of Section B will include local, regional and state news, and the section has been renamed “California.” We are redoubling our effort to provide interesting and complete local coverage to readers of the Los Angeles edition. At the same time, we will put that news in the broader context of Southern California and the rest of the state. We believe that The Times is in a unique position to provide such complete coverage.

A detailed key to the changes is provided in a Readers’ Guide, published in today’s paper. We look forward to hearing what you think about our expanded coverage. Please give us a call at (213) 237-3485 or (877) 554-4000.
