2 Dead and 6 Injured as Pickup Veers off Freeway
From Times Staff Reports
A pickup truck carrying eight people veered off a freeway and rolled over near Sylmar Sunday, killing the driver and a 3-year-old girl, authorities said.
The pickup was headed southbound on the Golden State Freeway just beyond the Foothill Freeway overpass when it crashed about 12:45 p.m., said Officer Alex Gonzalez, a spokesman for the CHP.
Several people were thrown from the truck, including the driver, whose body was found about 75 feet from the wreckage, authorities said. The man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
