Conejo Valley Cyclists and Boy Scout Troop 753 will host the 17th annual Cruisin’ the Conejo fun and fitness fund-raising bicycle ride Saturday. There will be fully supported rides of 20, 34, 62, 68 and 100 miles. A free barbecue lunch will be served after the rides. Proceeds benefit the club and charitable organizations.

Authors

The Ventura County Reading Assn. will present its 24th annual Authors’ Faire on Saturday at Rio del Valle Junior High School in Oxnard. Authors scheduled to attend include Amanda Irma Perez, Lee Wardlaw and Ellen Kelley, as well as illustrator Diane Greenseid. The presenters will advise young authors on turning ideas into books, and there will be drawing demonstrations and open-mike poetry readings.

The New West Symphony League will sponsor the Design House Home Tour this weekend. The tour will feature four architecturally significant homes in the Ventura area, plus an artisan boutique and a tearoom. Free parking and shuttle service will be available at Memorial Park, Poli and Crimea streets, and at Community Presbyterian Church, 1555 Poli St.

Exhibit

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library will open “Walt Disney--The Man and his Magic” on Sunday. Including rare items from the Walt Disney Family Foundation, the Disney family and the Walt Disney Co., the exhibit provides a rare look at Disney as an unassuming Midwestern American dreamer with an unbounded creative spirit. Among the artifacts displayed will be Disney’s elementary school desk, the prototype for his Autopia vehicle, the Snow White Academy Award trophy and its miniatures representing the Seven Dwarfs, and Disney’s Presidential Medal of Freedom.
