Rule 1 of Auto Burglary: Don’t Pick a Police Car
- Share via
A burglar accused of stealing a pack of cigarettes, a lighter and candy from a car made one fatal mistake: The vehicle was an unmarked police car--and the cop was watching from 15 feet away.
Officer John Huston said he had been patrolling an Idaho Falls, Idaho, parking lot on foot when he saw a man getting out of his car.
Huston stopped the suspect, who said he did not know the car was a police vehicle, even though it was equipped with police lights and radio. He said he was just passing by and thought it looked like a good car to burglarize.
