Yankees’ ninth inning, one on, two out (Diamondbacks lead, 2-0): Sure, Alfonso Soriano’s one-out single to right drove in Chuck Knoblauch from second base to win the game in the 12th inning, but Scott Brosius made it all possible by saving the Yankees from going on the brink of elimination. Brosius, hitless in three at-bats and batting .188 in the Series, came up with Jorge Posada on second with a double and crushed a 1-0 pitch from beleaguered Arizona closer Byung-Hyun Kim deep into the left-field seats to tie the score and send the game into extra innings. Up to that point, the Yankees were only one for 24 with runners in scoring position.
