Mogul Ecclestone Races Back to Top of Pay List
Racing mogul Bernie Ecclestone was Britain’s top earner for the second year running, according to the Sunday Times Pay List of the 500 biggest earners.
The newspaper estimated Ecclestone made $1.15 billion in the year to Oct. 1, from his 25% stake in Formula One racing and from running other races. Last year, he headed the list with $890 million.
Financier Martyn Arbib, who earned $179 million, was second.
Madonna, who became a British resident when she married British film director Guy Ritchie, was 11th with $43.7 million, and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling came in 14th with $36 million. Queen Elizabeth II was 24th on the list with $22 million.
