Governor Urges Cutting Airport Chief’s Severance

Acting Gov. Jane Swift wants the $175,000 severance package for the head of the agency that oversees Boston’s Logan Airport renegotiated because of public anger.
Swift said she has asked the agency’s board of directors to block the package for Virginia Buckingham, who is resigning after criticism over security in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Logan was the departure point for the two hijacked planes that leveled the World Trade Center towers.
