San Jose Quarterback to Miss Rest of Season
San Jose State quarterback Clint Carlson will miss the rest of the season because of a broken right thumb.
Carlson started the Spartans’ last three games, leading the previously winless team to two victories.
In eight games this season, Carlson completed 79 of 135 passes for 1,053 yards and six touchdowns.
Carlson was injured during San Jose State’s loss at Hawaii last Saturday, apparently while tackling a defensive back who had intercepted one of his passes.
Marcus Arroyo, who started for San Jose State last season but since has been inconsistent, will start against Nevada on Saturday, Coach Fitz Hill said.
Arroyo has thrown for 879 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions this season.
Arroyo’s backup will be Brennan Crooks, who has been working as a defensive back this fall after backing up Arroyo last season.
