Pistons Put Brakes on Mavericks

Jerry Stackhouse had 28 points and eight rebounds, and Cliff Robinson added 24 points to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 115-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Robinson also helped limit Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki to three-for-14 shooting and 10 points and held the Mavericks to 40.7% from the floor.

Detroit won for the fifth time in six games, avenging a season-opening loss to the Mavericks. The Pistons finished with a season-high in points and had 31 assists.

Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning, struggling to recover from food poisoning that sidelined him last week, will miss at least three more games. Heat forward Brian Grant will miss at least five games with a bone bruise to his right instep. ... Memphis guard Michael Dickerson will miss at least a month because of a stress fracture near his groin.
