Re “Traffic Work Gets Green Light in Setback for Playa Vista Opponents,” Nov. 17: The headline to the real story should read, “Road Widening Gets Green Light in Setback for Ballona State Park Supporters.” Your article missed the whole point (it focused on the least of the contentious issues--reconfiguring the Jefferson/Culver intersection) and missed the biggest story: widening Culver Boulevard up to 100 feet, doubling (and in some places, almost tripling) its current width, through the public’s future proposed state park.

While this road-widening project won’t help safety, it would encourage Playa Vista’s Phase 1-generated traffic of 40,000 daily car trips to drive through this wildlife habitat as a way to access the San Diego Freeway via the Marina Freeway. Shame on the Coastal Commission for not looking at feasible alternatives, as the law requires.
