Howard Is Penalized

The NCAA put Howard University’s athletic department on probation for five years after violations were found in several programs, including men’s basketball.
The violations, which took place between 1994 and 2000, involve bylaws on recruiting, extra benefits, academic eligibility, academic fraud and ethical conduct, the NCAA said.
Additional infractions involved baseball, women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming, the NCAA said.
