Aided by a new child protection task force, Manhattan Beach police have arrested a man suspected of exposing himself to girls.

In one recent incident, two 12-year-old girls told police that a man exposed himself to them from the open door of a large blue vehicle he was driving. A few days later, a 12-year-old walking home from school reported a similar incident.

The police notified the task force, which was formed about six months ago among 10 South Bay police departments and other agencies. Detectives were assigned to do surveillance in the area.

Earlier this week, they spotted a blue vehicle moving slowly beside a 13-year-old girl. The driver was arrested after the girl yelled for help.

Timothy Wayne Hurd, 25, of Long Beach was charged with four counts of child annoying.
