Chan Ho Park was outstanding in eight innings and Jeff Shaw moved closer to the Dodger all-time record for saves Sunday afternoon in a 2-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Bank One Ballpark.

Park (15-11) limited the National League West leaders to six hits and a run, and Shaw worked a perfect ninth to record his 40th save of the season and 200th of his career. With 126 saves as a Dodger, Shaw needs one to tie Todd Worrell for the franchise mark.

“We won this baseball game today due to a phenomenal performance by our starting pitcher,” Manager Jim Tracy said. “He was absolutely outstanding.

“When Chan Ho is like he was today, he’s just very, very difficult to deal with. No matter who the opposition is.”

Right fielder Shawn Green provided a spark for the Dodger attack with a run-scoring double in the first.

After the Diamondbacks tied the score, 1-1, in the eighth on Tony Womack’s two-out single, Green tripled over the head of right fielder David Dellucci to start the ninth. He scored the go-ahead run while Adrian Beltre broke up a potential inning-ending double play on Dave Hansen’s grounder to second.

The third-place Dodgers (82-74), mathematically eliminated from the NL wild-card race, avoided being swept in the three-game series and staved off elimination in the West race. They will be officially finished with another loss or an Arizona victory.

The Diamondbacks (88-68) remained two games ahead of the second-place San Francisco Giants with six to play. Greg Swindell (2-6) gave up Green’s triple in the ninth and took the loss.

Arizona starter Albie Lopez pitched eight strong innings in a no-decision. Womack’s run-scoring single got Lopez off the hook for his 20th loss.
