San Jose goalkeeper Joe Cannon got his second shutout of the playoffs and the Earthquakes scored three goals in the second half in a 4-0 victory over the Miami Fusion on Sunday night to even their MLS semifinal series.

The deciding game is Wednesday at Miami.

Landon Donovan gave San Jose the lead 15 minutes 47 seconds into the game when he took a pass from Manny Lagos at the top of the penalty area and scored on a left-footed shot. Donovan has four goals and 10 points in four playoff games.

The Earthquakes got second-half goals from Ian Russell, who scored off an assist from Donovan; Lagos, who scored his third goal of the playoffs off an assist from Richard Mulrooney, and Dewayne DeRosario, who scored an unassisted goal.

The game was as physical as Miami’s 1-0 victory to open the series. This time, however, the officials called the game more closely, issuing four yellow cards in the first half and one in the second. Midway through the first half, San Jose’s Zak Ibsen and Miami’s Diego Serna were ejected for kicking each other while on the ground after a collision. In the 74th minute, Miami’s Ivan McKinley was given a red card after taking down Donovan.
