Salmon Finally Running on Klamath, Trinity
From Times Wire Reports
The salmon run on the Klamath and Trinity rivers has begun.
The run was slowed late in the summer as the mouth of the Klamath was all but closed to the powerful fish.
But by Monday, about 7,500 Chinook salmon had found their way to where the Shasta River meets the Klamath, about 10 miles northwest of the town of Montague in Siskiyou County.
The last rainy season was the seventh-driest on record in Eureka. Just under 23 inches of rain fell, compared with a normal average of 38.
