Wife Dies in Crash; Husband Hospitalized
A 17-year-old boy who fell asleep driving to work early Tuesday rear-ended a car, killing the passenger and critically injuring the driver, police said.
Shireen Dadpoursaf, 56, of Mission Viejo died at the scene, said Jon Fleischman, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Her husband, Amir Dadpour, 72, was in stable condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo.
The couple were in a sedan stopped at a signal on Crown Valley Parkway at Alicia Parkway about 5:30 a.m. when their car was hit from behind by the youth’s pickup truck, Fleischman said. The truck’s driver, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was unhurt. He was not cited pending an investigation, Fleischman said.
