When you’re on the go, nothing soothes a craving like a cookie. Mni’s Bakery: At first glance, this heart-shaped cookie looks too big to eat; then you take a bite, and another, and another. With its semi-chewy texture, whole-wheat flavor and vanilla cream filling, it tastes of childhood. (Vanilla cream heart cookie, $2.50.) Mni’s Bakery, 519 S. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, (323) 938-8800; 2507 Main St., Santa Monica, (310) 396-7700.

Basix: You won’t believe this big chocolate meringue cookie with a bittersweet chocolate center is totally fat free. (Chocolate cloud cookie, $1.50.) Basix, 8333 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, (323) 848-2460 .

Julienne’s: Here’s a cookie flavored with espresso, bittersweet cocoa, chocolate chips and walnut chunks; it’s crumbly-crunchy outside and moist inside. (Double chocolate espresso cookie, $1.75.) Julienne’s, 2649 Mission St., San Marino, (626) 441-2299.

Rockenwagner: The espresso-macadamia nut cookie combines a chocolaty espresso flavor with crunchy, buttery macadamia nuts in a cookie with a soft, cake-like texture that melts in your mouth. It’s available on Saturdays at Rockenwagner, daily at Peet’s Coffee & Tea next door and at various farmers markets around Los Angeles. (Espresso macadamia nut cookie, $1.) Rockenwagner, Edgemar Complex, 2435 Main St., Santa Monica, (310) 399-6504; Peet’s Coffee & Tea, 2439 Main St., Santa Monica, (310) 399-8117.

Doughboys: The most irresistible of the lumberjack-sized cookies here is the white chocolate chip and dried cherry. The subtle, creamy flavor of white chocolate goes perfectly with plump, chewy cherries in a cookie that’s crisp on the edges, moist in the center. (White chocolate chip and dried cherry cookie, $1.50.) Doughboys, 8136 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles, (323) 651-4202.

Zov’s Cafe & Bistro: Two of the most requested cookies here are the chocolate macaroons--about 3 inches wide, 2 inches high, made of egg whites, condensed milk and lots of coconut, and dipped in dark chocolate--and the jumble cookie (also enormous--41/2 inches wide), a buttery, chewy chocolate chip cookie crammed with pecans, almonds and raisins. (Chocolate macaroon, $3.95; jumble, $2.25.) Zov’s Cafe & Bistro, Enderle Center, 17440 E. 17th St., Tustin, (714) 838-8855.
