Sean Burke made 29 saves for his 27th career shutout and the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 1-0, Saturday at Phoenix.

Krystofer Kolanos scored 3:14 into the third period.

Patrick Roy, sidelined the previous two games because of a sore hip, stopped 22 shots, but failed to win his 200th game with the Avalanche, which plays the Ducks tonight at Anaheim.

Colorado’s Greg de Vries missed a penalty shot 56 seconds into the third period.

Toronto 4, Pittsburgh 0--Curtis Joseph made 23 saves and Mats Sundin scored twice at Toronto.

Gary Roberts and Darcy Tucker also scored for the Maple Leafs.

Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux left after the first period when he aggravated a strained left hip muscle. He is doubtful for tonight’s game against Florida.

Detroit 1, Nashville 0--Manny Legace and Dominik Hasek combined for the shutout at Nashvilleand Steve Duchense scored his first goal this season.

Legace left in the second period after Nashville’s Kimmo Timonen fell on him.

He was removed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital for X-rays.

Atlanta 4, Tampa Bay 3--Tony Hrkac scored the game-winner with 5:03 to play at Atlanta.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Hnat Domenichelli and Jiri Slegr also scored for Atlanta.

Vaclav Prospal scored two goals and Ben Clymer had one for Tampa Bay.

New York Rangers 2, Boston 1--Theo Fleury tipped in Brian Leetch’s pass for the winning goal with 24.2 seconds left in overtime at Boston.

Mike Richter made 45 saves for the Rangers.

Andreas Johansson scored for the Rangers.

Boston’s Sergei Samsonov tied the score with 4:59 left in regulation.

Philadelphia 5, Montreal 1--Kim Johnsson and Jan Hlavac scored early in the first period and the Flyers coasted at Montreal.

Mark Recchi, Ruslan Fedotenko and Marty Murray also scored for the Flyers.

New Jersey 3, Buffalo 1--Petr Sykora scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with 3:59 remaining at East Rutherford, N.J.

Jason Arnott also scored on a power play and Bobby Holik had an empty-net goal with 58.2 seconds left to help the Devils win their fourth in a row.

Ottawa 4, St. Louis 1--Daniel Alfredsson had three goals, all in the third period, and an assist at Ottawa.

It was Alfredsson’s third career hat trick.

Calgary 4, Minnesota 2--Jarome Iginla celebrated his 400th game with a goal and an assist for host Calgary.

With the score tied, 1-1, in the second period, Iginla scored his eighth goal on a power play that put the Flames ahead to stay.

San Jose 2, Columbus 0--Rookie defenseman Jeff Jillson scored his first goal and Evgeni Nabokov was rarely tested at San Jose, posting his second shutout this season.

Edmonton 3, Vancouver 2--Anson Carter’s power-play goal with 3:54 to play lifted the Oilers at Edmonton.
