1. Miami (2-0) beat Rutgers, 61-0: Too bad Rutgers officials can’t get this one off the docket: Miami has outscored Scarlet Knights, 180-6, in last three meetings against Big East patsy. Ken Dorsey missed a few open receivers but threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Next: No. 15 Washington, Saturday

2. Florida (2-0) beat Louisiana-Monroe, 55-6: Gators fumble away two of first three possessions, but that doesn’t matter against the team formerly known as Northeast Louisiana. At least Gators were gracious hosts ... Indians got paid $500,000 to straggle into The Swamp. Next: No. 8 Tennessee, Saturday

3. Oklahoma (3-0) beat North Texas, 37-10: Hybl isn’t quite Huepel, but he’s getting better. In the third start of his career, Nate Hybl threw for 350 yards, but also had an interception on an overthrow and cost the Sooners a potential field goal with an intentional grounding penalty. Next: Tulsa, Saturday

4. Texas (2-0) beat North Carolina, 44-14: Good career choice by Mack Brown: Texas is 2-0 for first time in five years, North Carolina is in shambles since Brown bolted Chapel Hill after 1997 season. Still, erratic Texas offense could use some fine-tuning. Next: at Houston, Sept. 22

5. Nebraska (3-0) beat No. 17 Notre Dame, 27-10: Cornhuskers rub their eyes and respond after sleepy victories against Troy State and TCU. Now must stay awake against Rice, Missouri, Iowa State, Baylor and Texas Tech before Oct. 27 game against Oklahoma. Next: Rice, Saturday

6. Florida State (2-0) beat Alabama-Birmingham, 29-7: Quarterback Chris Rix scored a 10 on poetic 360-flip into the end zone. Rest of Seminoles’ ground game scored a 2.5; Rix outrushed everybody with 52 yards. Next: No. 10 Georgia Tech, Saturday

7. Oregon (2-0) beat Utah, 24-10. More Heisman fodder for giddy Oregon sports information officials: Joey Harrington tied ex-Duck chucker Dan Fouts with 37 career touchdown passes. Next: USC, Sept. 22

8. Tennessee (2-0) beat Arkansas, 13-3: Game delayed twice by bad weather. Volunteer offense took it a step further and didn’t show up until fourth quarter. Travis Stephens was workhorse with 41 carries for 206 yards. Next: at No. 2 Florida, Saturday

9. Virgina Tech (2-0) beat Western Michigan, 31-0: Who needs Michael Vick? Hokies have scored 83 points in first two games. Six running backs blasted Broncos for 271 yards, while injured Lee Suggs awaited knee surgery. Next: at Rutgers, Saturday

10. Georgia Tech (3-0) beat Navy, 70-7: So much for our national defense. Yellow Jackets hand Navy worst loss ever in tune-up for Tallahassee. George Godsey threw two touchdowns and ran for another before being pulled (mercifully) in the second quarter. Next: at No. 6 Florida State, Saturday

11. Michigan (1-1) lost to No. 15 Washington, 23-18: National championship hopes all but dashed for Wolverines. But they’ll still beat Ohio State at end of the season. Next: Western Michigan, Saturday

12. Kansas State (1-0) beat USC, 10-6: The score was a little too close for Wildcat Coach Bill Snyder, who would just as soon go back to playing nonconference creampuffs like Louisiana Tech. How’s next week sound? Next: Louisiana Tech, Saturday

13. LSU (2-0) beat Utah State, 31-14: Tigers had six fumbles, including three on punt returns, but held on to the ball long enough to beat back Aggies, who fell to 1-32 against Top 25 teams. Next: Auburn, Saturday

14. UCLA (2-0) beat Kansas, 41-17: Slow-footed Jayhawk defense couldn’t catch DeShaun Foster if he was napping in a bunk bed. Early-to-bed, early-to-rise Bruins can sleep in a little bit this week after two road victories. Next: Arizona State, Saturday

15. Washington (1-0) beat No. 11 Michigan, 23-18: Huskies deal Wolverines a Lowe blow and remain undefeated for rematch with Miami. Omare Lowe blocked a field goal that gets returned for touchdown, then scored on an interception return. Next: at No. 1 Miami, Saturday

16. Northwestern (1-0) beat UNLV, 37-28, Friday: Zak Kustok, Damien Anderson and Sam Simmons are college football’s version of The Triplets. Hapless Navy next on Wildcats’ breezy nonconference schedule. Next: Navy, Saturday

17. Notre Dame (0-1) lost to Nebraska, 27-10: Irish apparently didn’t spend enough time in the film room studying 41-9 Fiesta Bowl debacle against Oregon State. It could get worse with quarterback controversy brewing between Matt LoVecchio and Carlyle Holiday. Next: at Purdue, Saturday

18. Mississippi State (1-0) beat Memphis, 30-10, Monday: Bulldogs almost coughed up first Top 25 preseason ranking since 1993 with horrendous first half against Tigers. Starkville folks delighted by scoring drives on five consecutive second-half possessions. Next: Brigham Young, Saturday

19. Fresno State (3-0) beat No. 23 Wisconsin, 32-20: ESPN announcers kept calling Bulldogs the “feel-good team of the season.” Two thumbs down for originality but two thumbs up for a team that scored 22 unanswered points in the second half. Next: Utah State, Saturday

20. Clemson (2-0) beat Wofford, 38-14: Clemson schedule-maker nearly fired when Wofford takes 14-7 lead and Coach Terry Bowden gets booed. But Terriers roll over and allow seldom-used receiver J.J. McKelvey to score twice. Next: Duke, Saturday

21. South Carolina (2-0) beat No. 25 Georgia, 14-9: Lou Holtz already working on ways to overhype Bowling Green to the media. Hey, the Falcons (2-0) limited Buffalo to seven first downs and 43 yards rushing in a 35-0 trouncing. Next: Bowling Green, Saturday

22. Oregon State (1-1) beat New Mexico State, 27-22: Still reeling from Fresno State whooping last week, Beavers come perilously close to re-establishing themselves as torchbearers of bad football. Ken Simonton saves the day against New Mexico State, which has had only three winning seasons since 1967. Next: Montana State, Saturday

23. Wisconsin (1-2) lost to No. 19 Fresno State, 32-20: Fans couldn’t hightail back to Sheboygan, Pewaukee and Oconomowoc fast enough after Fresno State’s second-half blitz. Shaky quarterbacking and soft defense have Badgers off to worst start since 1991. Next: Western Kentucky, Saturday

24. Ohio State (1-0) beat Akron, 28-14: Not exactly a booming start for the Jim Tressel era, but Buckeye fans don’t care as long as John Cooper’s not wearing a headset. Besides, 79-year-old Ohio Stadium was rededicated before the game after a three-year, $210-million facelift. Next: San Diego State, Saturday

25. Georgia (1-1) lost to No. 21 South Carolina, 14-9: Maybe Quincy Carter knew what he was doing after all. Toothless Bulldog offense outdone only be bend-and-eventually-break defense that allowed three consecutive third-and-10 conversions on game-losing drive. Next: Houston, Saturday
