Crews Try to Fix Sewer Line Threatening River
From Times Staff Reports
A crew is rushing to complete a sewer repair project and eliminate a threat to the Tuolumne River and San Francisco’s water supply.
Riverbank erosion left a 305-foot section of sewer pipe exposed at Tuolumne Meadows. Crews are working to shore up the 60-year-old pipe before it breaks.
The pipe runs about 20 miles upstream from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, the source of San Francisco’s drinking water.
