From Times Staff Reports

The city takes on a Nordic flavor this month in preparation for Cal Lutheran University’s upcoming Scandinavian Festival.

During April, the Thousand Oaks Library on Janss Road is displaying artifacts and photos of local Scandinavian pioneers, such as the Olsen and Janss families and Richard Pederson, whose 130-acre farm made up most of the original CLU campus.

CLU’s Scandinavian Festival, which celebrates Nordic and Baltic cultures, will be held at the Kings- men Park on April 20 and 21. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with an introduction of the consuls general from many Scandinavian and Baltic nations.
