Firm Admits Donations Violated Campaign Law

An Irvine title insurance company has admitted that it broke state campaign finance law when it reimbursed employees for the $2,250 they contributed to two Orange County candidates in 1998.
Fidelity National Title Insurance Co. has agreed to pay a $16,000 fine in a settlement with the state Fair Political Practices Commission.
Five employees of Fidelity contributed $250 each to losing Anaheim mayoral candidate Bob Zemel. Four others contributed $250 each to Assemblywoman Marilyn Brewer (R-Newport Beach).
