Trom Recommended for Child Support Post
Ventura County officials are recommending that a revamped child support collections office be headed by Stan Trom, the same man who ran the district attorney’s child-support division for 17 years.
County Executive Officer Johnny Johnston said Trom is “thoroughly knowledgeable” about child-support issues and would make a well-qualified leader. Trom would oversee a newly created county department that oversees more than $50 million in child-support payments each year.
Criticism over local district attorneys’ handling of collection duties prompted legislators to create a new state-supervised system to do the job. Counties are charged with administering the programs locally.
