Linebacker Trotter Signs With Redskins

Two-time all-pro linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, released two weeks ago by the Philadelphia Eagles, agreed to a seven-year, $36-million contract with the Washington Redskins.

Trotter, who will receive a $7-million signing bonus, completes an all-pro linebacking corps for the Redskins. LaVar Arrington, Jessie Armstead and Trotter all played in the Pro Bowl last season.

The NFL Management Council has approved the seven-year deal between the expansion Houston Texans and quarterback David Carr, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday on its Web site.

The Buffalo Bills’ chances of trading for New England quarterback Drew Bledsoe are diminishing.

“I still don’t have the sense that they really want to do this, particularly with us,” Bill President Tom Donahoe told a Buffalo radio station.

The Bills and Patriots are AFC East Division rivals, meaning Bledsoe would face his former team twice each season if dealt to Buffalo.
