Pick Six Could Be Difficult

Share

After a rash of pick six carryovers--25 to be exact--at Santa Anita, there has not been one in the first four days of the Hollywood Park meet. That could change this afternoon.

Thanks to the third California Gold Rush, full fields are the order of the day in Inglewood and the races restricted to California breds are wide open.

There is also a $1-million guaranteed pool in the pick six. If nobody wins all six today, there will be a hefty carryover into Wednesday.

The pick six begins in the fifth, the $200,000 Melair Stakes, where Bella Bella Bella will try to get back on track in her debut for trainer Neil Drysdale.

The other pick six races are the $70,000 Lakeview Thoroughbred Farms Stakes at seven furlongs, the $175,000 Khaled Stakes, which Spinelessjellyfish will be trying to win for a third consecutive year, at 11/16 miles on the turf; the $250,000 Snow Chief Stakes at 11/8 miles, the $70,000 Big Jag Stakes at seven furlongs and the $60,000 Gourmet Girl Stakes for maiden fillies and mares at 61/2 furlongs.

Race of the day: Female sprinter Go Go makes her first start of the year in the $150,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes at seven furlongs. The race is the third on the Gold Rush card.

Who’s hot: Fit For A King. The amazing 9-year-old will try for his eighth consecutive win in the $175,000 Khaled Stakes.

Who’s not: Alfredo Miranda. The jockey won once in his first 40 mounts at Bay Meadows.

Exotically speaking: A pick three using Adminniestrator and Our Main Man in the first; Public Domain, Political Rhetoric, Onetrickphoney and California Power in the second, and singling Go Go in the third.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 1/8. Money: Previous day/meet total: $3.60/$35. Total money bet: $66.
