Slain Kidnapper

The comments by Kern County Sheriff Carl Sparks after his deputies shot and killed the kidnapper/rapist of two teenage girls were the most succinct and satisfying words spoken by a public official I have yet to hear (Aug. 2).

I defy anyone to tell me that they didn’t smile and feel great satisfaction when the sheriff said: “We don’t have to rehabilitate the son of a bitch. This man right here is not going to appeal his case to the Supreme Court.” No political doublespeak, just the heartfelt truth.
