From Times Staff Reports

A Los Angeles man pleaded no contest on Monday to stealing a 1953 National League championship ring given to the late baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

Miguel Rodriguez, 21, was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rand S. Robin to three months in County Jail after admitting to receiving stolen property and to grand theft.

The ring, valued at $12,000, was taken from a Robinson relative last year. Rodriguez was arrested in April after selling the ring for $100 to a pawnbroker on Western Avenue in Los Angeles. The pawnbroker recognized the ring and called police.
