Jury Starts Deliberations in Yosemite Murder Trial
After six weeks of testimony, jurors began deliberations in the murder trial of Cary Stayner, the motel handyman accused of killing three women outside Yosemite National Park in 1999.
The nine-man, three-woman jury met for two hours Thursday afternoon without reaching a decision. They will resume deliberations Monday morning.
Stayner could face the death penalty if convicted of murdering Carole Sund, her 15-year-old daughter, Juli, and family friend Silvina Pelosso in February 1999. He already is serving a life sentence for the murder of a Yosemite naturalist, Joie Ruth Armstrong.
