Fire Burns 105 Acres of Desert Scrub Brush
From Times Staff Reports
A fire charred 105 acres of desert scrub brush in the Leona Valley Sunday, threatening a sparsely populated area just west of Palmdale, authorities said.
The fire began at 5 p.m. in the 38000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, but was expected to be contained early today. The cause of the blaze is unknown, said Supervisor Cheryl Patterson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Two hundred firefighters and several aircraft were working the fire, which was fanned by 15-mph winds, Patterson said.
