Lo Duca Doesn’t Wear Butler’s Attire

Share

While I found Paul Lo Duca’s comments as silly as any regarding the possible strike, there is no cause to paint him with the same brush as that hypocrite Brett Butler.

While constantly spouting off about what a great Christian he was, Butler led the charge against Mike Busch, who did nothing more than report to work when his employer told him to. Lest we forget, Busch had a young wife and child and if he did not report to spring training in 1995, the Dodgers had threatened to cut him. Busch was a minor leaguer and the union was not going to help him if he was out of work. Not only did Butler speak out against Busch, Butler’s wife led the charge to ostracize Busch’s wife from the family section at Dodger Stadium.

In the end it was Busch himself who saved Butler from the ire of the fans by agreeing to appear with him at a press conference to bury the hatchet. Lo Duca may be silly, but he’s no Brett Butler.
