Clarkson latest Sundance fave

Share

When the Sundance Film Festival announces its lineup, it’s always interesting to see who emerges as the indie queen of the moment. Lili Palmer, Parker Posey and Christina Ricci have rotated as the girls most likely, but this year the honor goes to Patricia Clarkson, who has roles in at least five festival selections.

Currently in theaters in “Far From Heaven” as the crisply snide confidante to Julianne Moore (also a past Sundance fave), Clarkson appears in Sundance dramatic entrants “All the Real Girls,” “Pieces of April” and “The Station Agent” and world cinema selections “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Baroness and the Pig.”

Is there an Oscar in the cards? Not likely, but Hilary Swank, the star of 1999 Sundance entry “Boys Don’t Cry,” did go on to win best actress.
