A 38-year-old Stanton woman was in custody Monday after allegedly trying to poison her autistic son and herself, authorities said.
The 5-year-old boy was out of danger Monday after the incident, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Paramedics summoned by a relative to a residence in the 7200 block of Penn Way early Sunday found the woman and boy unconscious from an overdose of a prescription drug.
It apparently had been administered by the mother, authorities said.
Both were treated at a hospital.
The mother, whose name was not released, was being held on suspicion of child endangerment, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Hayward Miller.
The boy’s name and whereabouts were not released.
