Banks Is AP Player of Year

Iowa quarterback Brad Banks on Monday was selected college player of the year by Associated Press.
Banks received 24 votes, three more than USC quarterback Carson Palmer.
Banks led Iowa (11-1) to an Orange Bowl berth against USC.

Kentucky Coach Guy Morriss resigned and, according to a source, will be introduced Wednesday as coach at Baylor.... Maine linebacker Stephen Cooper is being investigated for possession of steroids after police found 1,000 pills during a traffic stop last month.... Utah assistant Gary Andersen was hired as coach at Southern Utah.
