Tennessee has been off since beating Louisiana Tech on Dec. 4. USC wants to get past last week’s 68-44 debacle against Connecticut, when the Trojans shot a school-record low 18%. “We hope we’re not the cure for them [today],” Tennessee Coach Pat Summitt said. “When you go on the road, you better bring your rebounding and defense. My concern is we’ve been sporadic in those areas.”

UCLA (4-2) at Pepperdine (3-3), Firestone Fieldhouse, 5 p.m., KBET (850) -- The Waves let a potential upset of USC slip away early this month, but feel better about themselves after a 67-64 road victory over Oklahoma State last weekend. The guard combo of Shandrika Lee (16.5 points) and Damaris Hinojosa (11.0) is carrying the Pepperdine offense. UCLA’s four-game winning streak ended last weekend in Georgia. The Bruins continue to get promising production out of the freshman trio of Nikki Blue (14 points), Julia Pitts (11.8) and Lisa Willis (9.3).
