3 Killed, 6 Injured in 3 Traffic Accidents
Three people died in three traffic crashes within a few hours of each other, authorities said.
The first occurred just before midnight Friday in Rancho Palos Verdes when a car being driven north on Hawthorne Boulevard overturned near Vallon Drive and caught fire. The driver, an unidentified man, burned to death, officials said.
Minutes later, early Saturday, a woman who may have been speeding was killed on the northbound Harbor Freeway near Carson when her car struck the center divider and was hit by two other cars. The two other drivers were treated for minor injuries.
About two hours later, a car crashed in East Los Angeles, killing a 19-year-old male passenger and injuring the four other occupants. The driver swerved on Whittier Boulevard to avoid another car that had veered into his lane and struck a light pole.
