* Pomona Ganesha had a perfect-shooting third quarter in a 94-67 victory over Covina. The Giants made 14 shots from the field, including three three-point baskets, and two free throws as they outscored Covina, 33-8, in the quarter to erase a 10-point halftime deficit.

High school basketball--Whittier Pioneer’s victory over La Serna in boys’ basketball Feb. 4 was its first since 1998, not in 18 years, as was reported incorrectly in a Sports story Monday.

Michael Efevberha scored 34 points and Chris Reaves added 31 for Ganesha.

* Travis Melin made six of his nine three-point baskets in the third quarter as Garden Grove Orangewood Academy routed Walnut Southlands Christian, 97-44. Melin finished with 29 points.

* Locke’s Kevin Lewis had 47 points and 13 rebounds in a loss to Crenshaw.

RECORD BREAKERS

* Fontana Miller’s Jacob Ramirez scored 55 points in a 102-76 victory over Redlands East Valley to set the school single-game scoring record. Ramirez, a senior guard who tied a school record with eight three-pointers in the game, broke Travis Reed’s mark of 44 points set in 1997. With 1,295 career points, Ramirez is poised to break Reed’s record of 1,297 points set from 1995-97 when the Rebels play host to Redlands on Tuesday.

* Donovan Morris set the San Bernardino Cajon career scoring record with 32 points in a 91-62 victory over cross-town rival Pacific. Morris, a senior forward, has 1,938 points, breaking the previous record of 1,927 set by Louis Kelly from 1995-97.

UPSETS

* Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy, the top-ranked team in the nation, 84-72.

* La Habra Sonora defeated then-No. 7 Corona Centennial, 57-40. Jacob Trejo scored 16 points for Sonora.

* Whittier Pioneer defeated cross-town rival La Serna, 46-39, for the first time in 18 years.

LOOKING AHEAD

* No. 19 Redondo Union plays at No. 20 Inglewood in a Bay League showdown Tuesday.

* Second-ranked Westchester travels to Trenton, N.J., to play regional power Bronx (N.Y.) All Hallows on Saturday.
