‘A Chance’ at Playoffs

Share

Once more into the breach for the Mighty Ducks, who picked themselves off the ice with a five-game winning streak before the All-Star break. They will now try to sustain that momentum against Philadelphia, the best team in the Eastern Conference.

The Ducks have not won more than five consecutive games since the 1998-99 season, when they won seven consecutive games. The club record is nine consecutive victories, set in 1996-97. In both of those seasons, the Ducks made the playoffs.

“We can’t think about next 20 games, we have to think about Philly first and make sure we have two points from them,” defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky said. “We have to start the same as we left off [at the All-Star break].”

The Ducks are 14th in the Western Conference, 11 points out of a playoff spot. They were 14 points out of the playoffs before the streak began.

“We are not in the playoff race right now, but we still have a chance,” Tverdovsky said.
