Woman Sought in Robberies, Shooting

Police were searching for a woman who they said shot a store clerk in the hand during the second of two holdups committed within a 10-hour period that ended Wednesday morning.

The woman entered La Cuevita Market in the 100 block of 8th Street about 7 p.m. Tuesday and demanded money from a clerk, said Santa Paula Police Sgt. Michael Saviers. Witnesses said the woman was wearing black clothing and a black beanie cap pulled down to cover her face,

At about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, a woman matching that description walked into a Chhina’s USA Gas station in the 800 block of West Harvard Boulevard and demanded money, Saviers said.

The clerk hesitated and was shot in the right hand. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
