Survivor of Crash That Killed 2 Leaves Hospital
The survivor of a two-car crash that killed two Pomona teenagers Wednesday night, during what police suspect was a drag race, was released Friday from St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
Just after 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Tony Rubalcava, 18, of Pomona was in a collision that killed Diana Herrera, 17, and Carlos Gomez Jr., 18, both also of Pomona, police said.
Both drivers were traveling well above the speed limit on White Avenue when they crashed, police said.
Gomez and Herrera died at the scene. It was Herrera’s 17th birthday.
Pomona police are asking any witnesses to call Michael Olivieri at (909) 620-2081.
